Howie Wins Winona Lake Caucus
A long-time service to the town of Winona Lake likely netted Terry Howie the vacant seat on the town council during a caucus held Thursday night.
Howie and Dennis Duncan vied for the open Ward 2 seat left with the recent resignation of John Boal.
Duncan, who admitted to having no experience on an elected board, but being very familiar with serving on boards, told the three voting precinct committee people he had no agenda and would work hard to represent the people and the town.
Howie served on the Winona Lake Town Council for four years and has a history of 25 years of service with the town as member of the police department. He also served as a volunteer fireman.
Howie will immediately begin serving on the council and will remain the Ward 2 representative until Dec. 31, 2015. He won the caucus, which included only three voting parties including Janice Workman, Mark Nunez and Lynn Howie.
