Syracuse Library Outlines New Hours and Policies
News Release
SYRACUSE – Monday, June 22 is the date when the Syracuse Library is increasing hours and letting adults and children in for more services, including, picking books from the shelves to check out.
The new hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. And from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. Adults continue to have access to the copier, faxes, and up to one-hour computer usage.
All activities in the adult department are with a reservation. Half hour browsing time slots can be scheduled by calling (574) 457-3022 during open hours or by visiting the Syracuse Library webpage or Facebook.
There will be no more than 10 people in the adult department and 10 downstairs in the children’s department at any one time, so this is a grab-and-go, with children needing to be with an adult in the children’s department. Access to the children’s department will be through the Harrison Street entrance where curbside services continue.
Curbside pickup of reserved books, movies, and hotspots is available during open hours. The limit on items is now set at 30, and we ask that big orders are picked up within a couple of days.
Directions will be posted on the doors, since the doors remain locked. Masks are required and can be provided while in the library. The staff and board of directors want to continue providing a safe place with full services. The next phase is anticipated to upgrade on July 6th.
There are many cool prizes that can be earned in the children’s and teen summer reading programs. This is a great summer to discover the pleasures of reading, where unlike TV shows and movies, more new stories show up all the time.
A book club is starting where a group will use email for a discussion. The first book is Little Fires Everywhere, by Celeste Ng. The reader is shown a house burning in the first chapter and the rest of the book is a series of interactions, often pretty funny, that leads to the arson that burned the house.
The group is forming so now is the time to submit your email address to [email protected].
