Grace College Notes
Staff Report
WINONA LAKE – A pair of notes from Grace College athletes regarding its Lancer Classic and a bowling club announcement.
Lancer Classic
The 23rd annual Lancer Golf Classic is set for Thursday, Aug. 6, 2020, at Stonehenge Golf Club in Warsaw.
The event, which is an integral fundraiser for Grace Athletics, is an excellent chance for you to partner with the Lancers to help fund equipment, scholarships and facility upgrades for more than 250 student-athletes on the 18 varsity athletic teams at Grace.
The scramble will include a silent auction, prizes and a boxed lunch provided in the clubhouse. You will also get to interact with the Athletic Department staff, coaches and student-athletes.
Teams will be able to choose between a morning flight at 8 a.m. and an afternoon flight at 1 p.m.
For sponsorship opportunities or to register to play, contact Grace’s Athletic office at (574) 372-5100 ext. 6266.
McDonald Steps Down As Bowling Coach
Rob McDonald announced his resignation this week as the head coach of Grace’s bowling team.
McDonald was the first head coach in the program’s history after serving as the girls’ coach at Warsaw Community High School. He was originally announced as the head of the program in March.
The bowling program will remain a club sport for the 2020-21 season, keeping with the original plan.
“We are very appreciative to Rob for beginning our bowling program and laying the foundation in the early stages,” said Grace Director of Athletics Chad Briscoe. “We wish Rob and his wife all the best in their next chapter in life.”
Grace will begin a national search immediately for its next bowling coach.
