Miller Wins Age Group Championship

FRENCH LICK – Goshen’s Brayden Miller claimed a victory at the two-day Age Group Championships at French Lick Resort’s Pete Dye course, hosted by the Howard Bailey Junior Golf Tour.
Miller followed up a 74 on Wednesday to fire a 68 on Thursday to card a two-day score of 144 to storm the 13-year-old boys group. Middlebury’s Silas Haarer was third in the group with a two-day score of 155. The younger Haarer brother, Luke, shot a 155 for fourth place in the 11-year-old group.
Rounding out boys scores included Middlebury’s Brock Reschly with a 150 for third in the 15 group, and in the 17 group, Mishawaka’s Jonah Kumfer was 12th at 161 and Rochester’s Reece Renie was tied for 17th at 166.
Switching to girls, Nappanee’s Breanna Goss was third overall in the 16-year-old group with a 79-89 finish of 186. Goss didn’t shoot lower than bogey on any hole in the first round, but found more trouble on Thursday, suffering through five double bogeys and a quad to open the front nine.
Tied for 11th in the 16 group was Rochester’s Kristianna Lingenfelter, who carded a 192.
Goshen’s Braedyn O’Dell was second in the 18 group, shooting a 173. Delaney Wade of Granger was also second in the 14 group with a 166, and Karah Lingenfelter of Rochester was tied for eighth in Wade’s flight with a 217.
