Doriot Thanked For Considering Question
Editor’s note: The following is a thank you letter That the Hoosier State Press Association recently mailed to our state legislator who has worked with the HSPA on various legislative concerns impacting the news industry. The work of the HSPA with our legislators is on behalf of this publication.
Dear Sen. Blake Doriot,
I hope this letter finds you and your family safe and healthy. The historic times we’re living shut down the Hoosier State Press Association for a bit, which delayed my writing of thank you letters to legislators.
HSPA would like to thank you for considering a question posed by us concerning S.B. 145, authored by you. The bill would have established the office of outdoor recreation development within the Indiana Destination Development Corporation. HSPA pointed out to you a notice provision that wasn’t clear as to the type of notice required — Open Door law notice to the media or published public notice. You responded you were satisfied with a website notification seeking applicants.
The bill died in the Senate Natural Resources Committee chaired by Sen. Sue Glick, R-Lagrange.
I look forward to working with the General Assembly during the 2021 session, which will surely be a busy one following this year’s events.
Take care,
Stephen Key
