Gold Star Families To Honored On War Memorial
News Release
WARSAW — Kosciusko County has assured that residents who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for freedom are honored with their names on the War Memorial at the corner of Center and Lake Streets at the courthouse.
There is now a plan to honor families who have lost their loved ones.
Kosciusko Honor & Remember is partnering with the Kosciusko County commissioners to add wording on the back of the Memorial Wall.
“We added the words ‘Freedom Isn’t Free’ in 2005 when we rededicated the memorial,” said Ken Locke, who co-chairs the committee along with John Sadler. “We have wanted to honor the sacrifice and grief of mothers, fathers, siblings and other family members who have lost someone during war. This will be a perfect way to do so.”
County Commissioner Vice-President Bob Conley contacted Locke after seeing other memorials while he was traveling. A plan was presented for the wording and has been approved.
It was decided that the project would be funded by private donations, so KCH&R is seeking donations. Tax deductible gifts may be made payable to GWMA, P.O. Box 1797, Warsaw, IN 46581.
Kosciusko Honor & Remember is a committee sponsored by the Greater Warsaw Ministerial Association. Donors are asked to put “Gold Star” in the memo line. The plan is to have a dedication at the end of September. For more information call or text (574)-268-7697 or e-mail [email protected].
