ETNA GREEN — The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office will have a greater presence in the town of Etna Green starting this week.
A contract between the town and KCSO for further policing in Etna Green was first presented at the council’s August meeting. The Etna Green Town Council approved the contract between the town and KCSO on Sept. 8.
KCSO Chief Deputy Shane Bucher, along with Council Members Jason Hanes and Susan Klinefelter, met on Sept. 17 for the first day of sheriff’s patrols in the town. Bucher presented the signed contract to the council members.
Council and Bucher both noted concerns with busy traffic on SR 19, as well as vandalism at Heritage Park.
“The community has wanted this for a while,” said Hanes. “This is for the people.”
Bucher said his goal is to have the policing in town be community-oriented and is hoping for a “hometown feeling” between officers and Etna Green residents.
