Men From 2nd Mile Adventures Biking To Help Family
News Release
WINONA LAKE — Six local men are raising funds to help a widow and her children.
At midnight on Saturday, Oct. 10, the men will begin a four-day bike adventure, taking them from Kokomo to Cape Coral, Fla. One of those riders, Nate Shipley, lost his brother in July.
“Pressing on in life can be tough and sometimes feels impossible,” says Shipley, “But we leaned on our faith in God and now two months later, we are beginning to heal.”
The trip’s purpose is to raise money for Shipley’s widowed sister-in-law, a mother of three girls burdened with not only the family’s loss, but also the responsibility of raising children without her husband’s income. Shipley’s inspiration comes from James 1:27 and is an outlet to continue the healing process.
Several men from 2nd Mile Adventures in Winona Lake will join him, riding a relay for 24 hours a day and averaging more than 300 miles per day. The journey will be documented on social media in hopes of raising awareness and financial support for Jessie Shipley and her children. People may donate directly through the GoFundMe page.
