Northwestern 54, Tippecanoe Valley 38
The visiting Vikings hung around for quite a while, but the defending Class 4-A state runner-up had too much going away.
Valley trailed by as little as two in the fourth quarter, but were outscored 16-2 the remainder of the contest.
Sidney Wagner paced the Vikings (1-1) with 15 points, but was held scoreless in the fourth quarter. Kaydence Mellott added 10 points and Rily Holloway had six points.
Only four players scored for the Tigers, led by Mckenna Layden’s 19 points. Ellie Boyer and Leah Carter each had 16 points.
Fairfield 36, NorthWood 22
Even numbers weren’t favorable for the defending Class 3-A champs Saturday night.
NorthWood were outscored 21-2 in the second and fourth quarters against Fairfield in the long-awaited season opener for the Panthers.
Kendal Miller led NorthWood (0-1) with nine points and Alea Minnich had eight points and two steals. Bre Wise added four rebounds and three assists.
NorthWood commanded the JV contest 41-19. Joselyn Edwards had eight points and two assists, and Megan Mikel also had eight points and pulled down five rebounds. Kailey Martin added six boards.
