The Old Oaken Bucket Game will not be played in 2020 after both Purdue and Indiana mutually agreed to cancel the game in the midst of COVID spikes at both institutions.

BLOOMINGTON – Purdue and Indiana have mutually agreed to cancel Saturday’s scheduled football game at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington due to rising COVID-19 numbers at both schools.

“We’re certainly disappointed that we had to cancel the Old Oaken Bucket game. We both understand the history and tradition of one of the best rivalries in college football, but the safety and well-being of our student-athletes, coaches and staff is our primary priority. Indiana is having one of its best seasons as a program, sitting at 6-1 overall and ranked No. 12 in the latest poll. After a hot start to the season, Purdue has dropped four straight and sits at 2-4 overall.
