MILFORD — A Milford man was arrested after allegedly battering two women and fleeing from police after the incident.

Kurt Ryan Carter, 32, 12330 N. Creek Bend Lane, Milford, is charged with domestic battery with a child under 16 present and residential entry, both level 6 felonies; and resisting law enforcement, battery and domestic battery, all class A misdemeanors.

On Nov. 30, a Milford Police officer went to a residence regarding a report of residential entry and an unwanted subject. Dispatch said Carter had kicked in the door of a residence and battered two women.

Upon arrival, the officer noticed the residence’s front door was damaged and had signs of forced entry. According to court documents, a woman at the residence said Carter and another woman came to the residence to visit. During that time, Carter and the other woman began arguing when Carter hit the woman in the head and face. The woman at the residence prior to Carter’s arrival asked Carter to leave several times and was able to get him outside and lock the front door.

Carter began kicking the residence’s front door until it opened. Once inside, Carter then hit the woman who pushed him outside two times. Carter and the woman he came to the residence with left the scene.

A Kosciusko County Sheriff’s officer saw the vehicle Carter was driving on Armstrong Road. The officer instructed Carter to throw his keys outside the vehicle and place his hands out the window. Carter did not comply with the officer’s orders and began to walk and eventually run from the vehicle until the officer detained him.

On Dec. 1, the Milford officer spoke with both of the women who were allegedly battered by Carter. The woman who went with Carter to the residence refused to say if she was hit by Carter or if she saw the other woman get hit.

Carter was also interviewed by officers. He admitted to kicking the residence’s front door open and to hitting the woman he went to the residence with; however, he did not say if he hit the woman who was at the residence prior to his arrival.

During the battery incident, there was a child present in the home.

Carter has an initial hearing on this matter at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7.
