Lowell R. ‘Bud’ Strombeck
Lowell R. “Bud” Strombeck, 81, of North Webster, Ind., passed away at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 12, 2013, at his home.
He was born Dec. 18, 1931, in Pierceton, Ind., to Wayne and Ethel (Shuder) Strombeck.
He graduated from Chadsey High School in Detroit, Mich., and served in the Marines during Korean War. On Sept. 14, 1957, in Detroit he married Lois Ann LaFrance who preceded him on Nov. 13, 2008.
He retired from Hartman Appliance in Detroit after 30+ years of service as a store manager. After retirement he worked for Tam-O-Shanter Country Club in West Bloomfield, MI for 11 years. He lived most of his life in Michigan before returning to North Webster 17 years ago.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 253 in North Webster and formerly attended the North Webster Church of God as a child.
He is survived by a daughter: Lynn (Gary) Dollian, Dearborn Heights, Mich.; a son: Michael (Renee) Stan, Garden City, Mich.; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister: Norma Suhey, Allen Park, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, at Owen Family Funeral Home, SR 13 and CR 500 North, North Webster. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Chaplain Jim Teasdale officiating. Military graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 16, at Mock Addition of the North Webster.
