Staff Report
ARGOS — An Argos man who allegedly battered a woman and her children was arrested the day after Christmas.
Logan Ryan Neidlinger, 25, 4700 Walnut St., Argos, is charged with two counts of domestic battery with bodily injury to a person under 14, both level 5 felonies; strangulation and domestic battery committed in the presence of a child less than 16, both level 6 felonies; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Dec. 26, 2020, a Kosciusko County deputy was dispatched to a location in reference to a domestic fight.
Upon arrival, the deputy spoke with a woman at the scene who said she and her children had been battered by Neidlinger.
Neidlinger told the deputy he was the only adult at the residence and had been asleep but was woken up by some of the children crying. Neidlinger said he expected two of the other youths to care for the children and became angry. He allegedly admitted to pushing one of the youths up against the wall and slapping another child in the face after she began screaming. He also admitted to pushing the woman.
The deputy interviewed one of the juveniles, who said Neidlinger battered her and another youth when he was woken up by the children crying. The juvenile said Neidlinger choked two of the juveniles. The deputy saw red marks consistent with being struck on the side of the juvenile’s face.
Another youth was interviewed and said he was slapped and choked by Neidlinger. He said he was pushed against a door and his head hit the door. He had marks on the side of his face consistent with being slapped as well.
The woman at the scene said two of the children called her and told her that Neidlinger battered them. She returned to the residence and began arguing with Neidlinger about it. During the argument, the woman said Neidlinger became violent and forcibly pushed her, breaking a Christmas tree and television.
The woman said Neidlinger then got on top of her and then allegedly began grabbing her neck with his hands, making it difficult for her to breathe. The woman said Neidlinger finally got off of her when law enforcement arrived on scene. All of the children were in the residence during the altercation. The deputy noted marks on the woman’s neck and arms consistent with being battered.
Neidlinger was booked at the Kosciusko County Jail on Dec. 26 on a $6,000 surety and cash bond
