Betty Carrie
Betty Carrie, 90, Warsaw, Ind., passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013, in her home with her daughter, Cissy, at her side.
Betty was born April 3, 1923, in Anderson, Ind., to Myron B. and Florence Ruth (Johnson) Reynolds. She was a 1940 graduate of Tudor Hall School in Indianapolis, Ind.
For 13 years Betty Carrie was the owner of Hammok Country Store. Then for 19½ years, she was the administrative assistant for her daughter and son-in-law’s business, Rix Pool and Patio Center in East Hanover, N.J.
Betty Carrie was a 68-year member of Daughters of the American Revolution. She was greatly influenced and inspired by the 1721 house she called home while living in New Jersey.
Wearing 1836 time period clothing she was a rug hooker for Back to the Days of Kosciusko County (Warsaw), Kosciusko County Community Fair (Warsaw), Heirloom Festival (Pierceton, Ind.) and Stone’s Trace (Cromwell, Ind.). She also was a member of the Society of Decorative Painters.
Betty Carrie taught multiple arts and crafts for 18 years through the Madison-Chatham Adult Education Program in New Jersey.
Those who loved her most and will miss her greatly are two daughters and sons-in-law: Cissy Reynolds (Charles William) Kramer, Pierceton; and Emily Julia Reynolds-Goodman (Barry Seymour Goodman), Califon, N.J.; a brother and sister-in-law: Bill (Holly) Reynolds, Woodstock, Ga; two nephews; three nieces; three cousins and their spouses: Barbara and Floyd Dorsey, Warsaw; Wayne and Sharon Christenberry, Warsaw; and Alan and Jennifer Christenberry, Winona Lake, Ind.
Betty Carrie was preceded in death by her father: Myron B. Reynolds; mother: Florence R. Reynolds-Wise; and brother: Miron Charles Reynolds.
Family and friends will gather for a time of sharing in support of each other from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. A service celebrating the life of Betty Carrie will follow beginning at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Pastor William F. Mathys of First United Methodist Church in Anderson will officiate. Burial will take place in Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson.
