Syracuse Redevelopment Discusses Progress In Tech Park
SYRACUSE — The Syracuse Redevelopment Commission held a brief meeting Tuesday evening, Jan. 19, via Zoom, to get an update regarding Aluminum Insights, a company that intends to expand into the Syracuse Technology Park.
Town Attorney Vern Landis told the commission Bose and McKinney, a law firm that specializes in working with government entities, is drawing up an agreement designating Aluminum Insights personal property to capture the personal property tax on its equipment rather than its property tax for the tax increment finance district established in the technology park.
Landis told the commission some procedures may have to be done with Travel Star, another company that is moving into the park, to capture the personal property tax on its equipment. He recommended that both agreements be done at the same time to save time and money.
Larry Siegel, commission president, said he would call Bose and McKinney about modifying the contracts.
The commission approved allowing Aluminum Insights to reroute the sewer line on its property in the technology park so it could construct its building. The sewer will be rerouted at the company’s cost and is not expected to cause any drainage issues.
The new sewer will be running under the easement of the road. Siegel noted Aluminum Insights has already made a number of changes to its building plan to accommodate the lot it will sit on.
