Grace Lands Several PRs At Warrior Invite

FORT WAYNE – Grace’s track and field team showed early-season improvement at the Warrior Invitational indoor track meet on Friday.
Several events were won by Grace in the meet. Kaitlyn Mack posted a PR time of 1:41.98 to win the 600-meter race.
Heather Plastow finished first in the 1,000 with a time of 3:07.37, five seconds faster than her closest competitor.
The women’s 4×800 relay also won their race. Elizabeth Moore, Tara Friesen, Weslea Arthur and Anna Hulstedt teamed up to cross the finish line in first at 10:26.19.
Isaac Brown cleared 6-feet-8.75 in the high jump to win the event. His leap currently ranks fourth in the NAIA.
The Lancers had several other impressive performances, including a number of PRs. Bryan Hernandez-Rios posted a PR of 8:45.97 in the 3,000 to place second. Logan Rufenacht was also runner-up in the 1,000 with a time of 2:34.92.
Kyle Smith placed fourth in the 600 with a PR of 1:22.66, John Green was also fourth in the 200 (22.30), and Macallister Cheek finished third in the mile (4:33.61).
Heather Plastow ran 5:11.77 in the mile for a sixth-place showing, and Nordia Campbell placed fifth in the 60 dash at 7.95 seconds. Campbell was even faster in the prelims with a PR of 7.92. She also grabbed sixth in the 200 (25.86).
Neal Kathary set a PR in the shot put (45-1.5) to finish seventh, Tyler Morrison took eighth in the 400 (51.86), and Mallory Hiatt finished seventh in the 3,000 (10:34.89).
Grace had three runners place in the men’s 800, including Isaac Beatty (1:57.91, fourth place), Luke Smith (1:59.46, sixth) and Maurice Macklin (2:00.27, eighth).
The men’s 4×400 was fifth (3:26.84), and the 4×800 finished third (8:12.52). The women’s 4×400 placed fourth (4:12.94).
The Lancers’ next meet is the Wildcat Invitational, held at Indiana Wesleyan next weekend.
