Angola Wins Own Invite
Angola’s strong showing on bars and beam helped the Hornets to a title at its own invitational on Saturday.
Angola outscored the field on bars with 25.7, 3.15 better than East Noble, and 25.35 on beam, over a point better than the Knights which eventually became the difference in the meet. Angola ended with a 102.35, runner-up East Noble at 99.05.
Angola’s Emma Schoenherr led the meet in four columns, on vault (9.2), bars (9.2), floor (9.25) and all-around (35.7). Teammate Haley Hilyard had a 9.2 to lead on vault. East Noble’s Miah Hudson also had a 9.2 on vault to tie Schoenherr.
Huntington North was third at 93.8, followed by Lakeland at 91.45, Fort Wayne South Side at 67.4 and shorthanded Warsaw at 66.05.
The Tigers competed without Julianne Olson, which cramped its team standing short one of its all-arounders. Sydni Purvis was fourth in the meet with a 32.1, highlighted by an 8.8 on vault and 8.2 on beam. Brooke Bolinger posted a 29.0 all-around, an 8.45 on vault her best score.
