WARSAW — The Warsaw Community Public Library Board of Trustees discussed changes in programming during a brief meeting on Monday, March 8.
WCPL Library Director Ann Zydek said the library’s administrative assistant, Robin Fosnaugh, compiled and submitted the Indiana Public Library Annual Report 2020. While submitting the report, library staff learned that certain events WCPL hosts are not deemed as programs.
Because of this, the library’s event statistics sheets will now be categorized as either in-house events, virtual events, or events the state finds unworthy of being categorized as a program.
“We found out some new definitions for what programs are,” said Zydek. “We do a lot of activities that they (Indiana Public Library) don’t quite count as a program…even our numbers that we do for our summer reading programs. They like to count just the programs where someone is a special guest.”
Board President Chris Merrill asked Zydek if the programming changes will have a negative impact on library management.
“For staffing, it does mean determining who has an interest in programming, who has an interest in developing the content we have here,” said Zydek.
The board’s next meeting is at 4 p.m. Monday, April 12.
