Wawasee Releases Statement Concerning Threat
News Release
SYRACUSE — On Monday afternoon, March 29, Dr. Steve Troyer, superintendent of the Wawasee Community School Corporation, released the following statement concerning a potential threat to a student at Wawasee High School:
“Earlier this afternoon, administrators at Wawasee High School were made aware of rumors about a potential threat to a student at the school. As always, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority.
“In collaboration with the Syracuse Police Department, an investigation into the incident was immediately launched. The results of this investigation determined that at no time were students or staff at Wawasee High School in any danger.
“We share this information with you because we know how quickly rumors can spread, and false information interferes with the educational process. We want to be transparent and inform you that despite the rumors, there have been no credible threats to the school or any students or staff.
“We will continue to update you should we discover any more specific information, but at this time we will plan on a regular day of school tomorrow.”
