Scotty Van Hawk

WARSAW — A Warsaw man was arrested over the weekend after a four-hour stand-off with police.

Scotty Van Hawk, 49, Warsaw, was charged with resisting law enforcement and bond revocation, both misdemeanors. He was also arrested for two prior criminal cases, with two counts of stalking, seven counts of invasion of privacy, and two counts of intimidation. More details on these cases will be released as they become available.

At 11:26 a.m. Sunday, March 28, a law enforcement officer saw a person matching Van Hawk’s description inside a passenger vehicle on SR 15. Van Hawk was the suspect of multiple criminal investigations and had an active Kosciusko County arrest warrant. The vehicle traveled to the area of Van Hawk’s residence, which is near the intersection of CR 350N and CR 100E in Warsaw.

A traffic stop was initiated and Van Hawk fled on foot to his property. Multiple agencies and K9 units responded to the scene and established a perimeter.

Deputies attempted to contact Van Hawk, who failed to comply and follow repeated commands. A search warrant was obtained and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Group (S.O.G.), formerly known as S.W.A.T., was activated. Van Hawk was found inside his home and taken into custody without further incident at 3:39 p.m. Van Hawk is currently incarcerated at the Kosciusko County Jail.

Responding agencies include KCSO, Warsaw Police Department, Winona Lake Police Department, Indiana State Police, North Webster Police Department, the Kosciusko County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and Lutheran EMS.
