Syracuse Area Hosting Several Summer Sporting Events

SYRACUSE – The Syracuse and Wawasee area won’t be short of sporting events happening this summer.
Tournament of Champions
The annual scholarship event put on by the Shoop Sports Foundation, coordinator Mitch Williman is seeking females for the event.
Entrants compete for college scholarships in increments of $2,000, $1,500, $1,000 and $500 for first through fourth place finishers. Events include a mile run, obstacle course, softball throw and three-point shootout among 10 events contested. The event will be held June 19 at North Webster Elementary School. Entrants can be between high school graduate through 24 years of age, the scholarships to be used for tuition costs.

GOLF
Warrior Open – July 8
Wawasee athletics will continue its annual tradition with the 27th running of the Warrior Open golf outing.
Maxwelton Golf Club will host the event on Monday after the holiday weekend. Proceeds from the event go back to the Wawasee athletic department, which are then disseminated to the athletic programs at the high school.
Entry is $400 per foursome team. Three levels of sponsorships are also available, including $100, $250 and $500 sign sponsorships.
Conrad Golf – July 26
The annual Kim and Stephen Conrad Golf Fundraiser will take place at Maxwelton Golf Club. In its fifth year celebrating the lives of Kim and Stephen Conrad, proceeds from the outing are donated back to various organizations in the Wawasee community.
The golf itself will have two flights, 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., with a $400 fee per team of four. Hole sponsorships are $100 per signage.

Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber – Sept. 16
Details are still to come, but the Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce is planning its annual golf outing. The event will take place on Thursday, Sept. 16, at Maxwelton Golf Club. The chamber website will have details in the coming weeks.
ROAD RACES
Mudtastic – June 19
two-mile mud run: the event is open to kids and adults on a muddy track at the WACF property on Lake Wawasee. The race helps fund projects for the Syracuse Parks Department.
Flotilla Road Race – July 4
3.3-mile, 8-mile, fun walk: the road race through eastern Syracuse has been a staple on the 4th of July for over four decades, and will continue again this year. The 3.3 and 8-mile courses will originate and return to Lakeside Park and cover a host of age groups and prize levels.
Dixie Day Dash 5K – July 31
5K, fun walk: the road course takes runners around Webster Lake in a morning addition to the Dixie Days festival in North Webster. There is a theme – Sailors and Mermaids – for runners or walkers to partake.
Wawasee Triathlon – July 31
USA Sprint Triathlon: the annual triathlon originating at Lakeside Park will carry on the traditional course, a swim into Syracuse Lake, a bike ride around Syracuse and back, and a 3.3-mile run north of the shores of Syracuse Lake. There will also be a 5K run/walk in addition to the triathlon.
