Raiders Roll In NLC Tennis Quest

NAPPANEE – Northridge went ahead and finished the job Friday night.
The Raiders claimed tennis titles on four of the five courts to lay claim to the Northern Lakes Conference Girls Tennis Championships team crown. The Raiders had titles from Riley Wheatley and Lilah Dean at one and two singles, and both of its doubles teams were also victorious, earned by Brynne Gayler and Peyton Keiper at No. 1 and Taylin Cress and Morgan Mack at No. 2.
Plymouth was the only spoiler in terms of titles, seeing Bella Kain win the title at No. 3.
Northridge and Plymouth played one another for championships on all three of the singles courts, and Ridge got the job done at one doubles against NorthWood’s Amy Adams and Emery Porter in a 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 final. Two dubs defeated Concord in another three-set thriller.
NorthWood’s Paige Henschen and Kate Stillson finished third in the two doubles circuit, beating Plymouth, and Plymouth took third in one doubles, beating Warsaw’s Marie Frazzetta and Peri Britton. Warsaw’s Megan Mishler was third at three singles and Britton Jesse was third at two singles.
In get-back matches on the back half of the brackets, Wawasee’s Kiah Farrington was fifth at one singles, Warsaw’s Regan Brouwer was fifth at two singles and NorthWood’s Ashlyn Feller was fifth at three singles. Both of Wawasee’s doubles teams finished sixth overall.
Concluding the standings rundown, Northridge was 7-0 in the regular season and used the tourney title’s 57 points to take all the hardware back to Middlebury. Plymouth (6-1) was second with 45 points, with NorthWood (5-2, 36) claiming third. Goshen, Concord, Warsaw, Wawasee and Mishawaka concluded the placements for the season.
