NORTH WEBSTER — A Columbia City man passed away May 18 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident May 11.

Easton Adkins, 19, of Columbia City, died last Tuesday at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.

Adkins was critically injured when the Ford Fusion he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree near the public access entrance in the Pisgah Marsh Nongame Area. 

According to a press release sent out by Sgt. Chris Francis, public information officer for the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, Adkins had been attempting to locate a friend near Durham Lake around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 11.

Witnesses told police they lost telephone contact with Adkins and began to search the area.

A location obtained from Snapchat led emergency personnel to the crash scene.

Adkins was airlifted from the scene in critical condition by the Parkview Samaritan Air Ambulance.
