Schram Tops Tigers In Invite
Jon Schram led the way for the Warsaw boys golf team Saturday in the Lafayette Jefferson Classic.
Senior standout Schram fired a round of 74 as the No. 13 Tigers captured second place in the 21-team event at the Battle Ground Golf Course.
No. 18 Crown Point took top team honors with a score of 299. Warsaw finished second with a 306.
Schram, a Ball State recruit, tied for third place among individuals.
Junior Will Petro shot a 76 for coach Ben Barkey’s Warsaw squad. Senior Evan Cultice finished with a 77, senior Tim Ahlersmeyer a 79 and sophomore Jonny Hollar an 82 for the Tigers.
Matt Meneghetti of Lake Central took individual medalist honors with a 72. Matthew Mudd and Mike Lee, both of Crown Point, shot 73, while Schram and Ryan Wells of Lake Central each shot 74.
Triton senior ace Ryan Rapp led the Trojans with a round of 75, tying for fourth place among individuals.
Lake Central was third in the team standings with a 312, followed by Cathedral (314), Triton (314), Brownsburg (319), Lebanon (321), No. 3 Hamilton Southeastern (323), Fishers (325) and No. 1 Columbus North (331) to round out the top 10.
Warsaw will host its own sectional Friday at Stonehenge. The 13 team field will include Triton, Tippecanoe Valley and Whitko.
Ryan Cultice and Brandon Eckert led the Warsaw JV team to a sixth-place finish Saturday in the Lancer Invitational, a varsity event held at Swan Lake.
Cultice and Eckert each fired an 82 to lead the Tigers. Josh Ashlersmeyer and Reid Cameron each shot an 83 and Jacob Foster a 100 for Warsaw.
Plymouth won the team title with a 314, Fairfield was second in the 12 team field with a 315. Warsaw was sixth with a 330.
