WARSAW — Raise the Dough, a nonprofit “on a mission to raise funds for adoption because no child should be without a parent,” will again sponsor its annual fundraiser leading up to National Doughnut Day, Friday, June 4.

Raise the Dough has stood alongside many families in the area who are on the road to adoption, providing not only financial support, but also a source of encouragement and guidance.

They have been blessed to partner with 39 families in their adoption journey, seeing 14 international and 24 domestic adoptions.

This year the organization is sticking to the simplicity of National Doughnut Day and asking people to join in the adoption celebration with three easy steps:

• Support adoption by making a gift to Raise the Dough, which is asking for people to become one of the 600 families who are actively supporting adoption. Your gift will go directly to a family ready to adopt. You can make your gift at www.raisethedough.org or www.600families.org.

• Celebrate the day by picking up some doughnuts at your local bakery or doughnut shop or baking a doughnut or two in your own kitchen.

• Share the Raise the Dough story, encourage others to do the same and pray for current and past families.

Why National Doughnut Day? Back in 2014 the Forshtay family knew a couple in their small group of friends who struggled with infertility and didn’t consider adoption because of the high costs associated.

So, the group rallied around them and used National Doughnut Day as a small fundraiser to show support and bridge the gap of funds. Out of that fundraiser began the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

There are willing parents who don’t adopt because it is so costly. An average newborn adoption in the United States is approximately $33,000.

Anyone can help eliminate the barriers by joining this movement. Since 2015, 39 families have been supported by donors giving generously to Raise the Dough. They know there is more work to be done.

Raise the Dough is overjoyed at how God continues to work. “God remains faithful to our non-profit” said founder Tobe Forshtay.
