Kiwanis Raffle for Riley Children’s Hospital
The Kiwanis Club of Warsaw is selling tickets for the Riley Raffle through July 15.
Funds raised will go to the Kiwanis’ $1 million commitment to Riley Children’s Hospital over the next four years. Kiwanis’ Indiana District is committed to raising $250,000.00 per year for Riley’s Pediatric Diabetes Research Program.
Type 1 diabetes, sometimes known as juvenile-onset diabetes, develops when the body’s immune system destroys pancreatic beta cells, the only cells that make the hormone insulin. Insulin usually move the glucose contained in food into cells throughout the body, which use it for energy. Without beta cells no insulin is produced and the glucose stays in the blood, where it can damage all organ systems in the body. Riley treats over 1800 Hoosier children with diabetes each year.
To support the fund, contact Nancy Amundgaard at 574-658-4246 or [email protected]. Tickets are $5.00 each or 5 tickets for $20.00. One need not participate in the raffle to help, as donations are also welcome.
