Cameron Stewart Morris

A short pursuit with a motorcyclist was called off Tuesday night by a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputy who said reckless driving was behind his decision to discontinue following the suspect.

At about 8:31 p.m. Tuesday, KCSD Deputy Mike Fowler attempted to stop a motorcyclist at CR 600 South and County Farm Road when the operator of the bike, later identified as Cameron Stewart Morris, 23, of Warsaw, accelerated at a high rate of speed from the intersection. Deputy Fowler clocked Morris at over 80 mph.

In an attempt to stop the motorcycle, Fowler activated his emergency lights, but Morris accelerated even more and refused to stop for the officer. Fowler radioed in the pursuit but, within minutes, terminated the chase citing Morris’ reckless driving.

Although Morris’ identity was not known to the officer at the time, a witness vehicle was stopped and its occupants questioned. Morris was identified Morris and located a short time later when he was taken into custody and charged with resisting law enforcement with force or a deadly weapon/vehicle. Morris was held on a $2,000 surety bond.
