Buggy Accident Injures Pair Near Etna Green
Two Marshall County children were critically injured Friday in an Amish buggy incident in Kosciusko County.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies and emergency personnel responded today to the location of 6955 West, County Road 650 North, Etna Green, after receiving a 9-1-1 call at approximately 2:28 p.m. of two small children injured from an Amish buggy accident. Responders arrived and located a 3 year old female as well as a 1 year old female that had been injured severely after being dragged underneath a buggy/carriage.
According to K.C.S.D. Corporal Chris Rager, the mother of the children, Barbara Miller, 9B Road, Bourbon, had been preparing to leave the residence of 6891 North, County Road 750 West, Etna Green, when the horse suddenly backed up causing the buggy/carriage to flip onto its side. The two small children had been placed inside the buggy/carriage and had slid to the open area and were trapped as the horse then began to drag the carriage for approximately 50 yards on the stone driveway.After stopping the horse, the two girls were removed and the Amish families immediately attempted to call and seek for emergency medical help at the County Road 650 North location. Both children were hot loaded from that location and airlifted via helicopter to Parkview Regional Trauma/Medical Center in Fort Wayne. They are both listed in critical condition at the time of this release.
