Wawasee 3, Tippecanoe Valley 0
Wawasee made a statement with a road win Tuesday, taking out Tippecanoe Valley 3-0.
In the 25-19, 25-16, 25-20 win, Leslie Vazquez stood out with 11 kills, nine digs and three blocks. Amanda Allen sent up 29 assists and Dylan Konieczny added seven kills and five aces.
Bree Sheetz had eight kills to lead the Valley offense, with Brayden Baney and Colette Blackburn combining for 17 digs.
The JV contest went to Wawasee in a 25-15, 25-21 result. Stats were not provided for Wawasee, Valley had Karegan Callahan collect eight digs and four aces, and Emma Patrick smack four kills.
Penn 3, NorthWood 0
It was a tough season opener for NorthWood in a visit to The Palace to take on the perennial state contender Kingsmen 25-14, 25-19, 25-6.
Annika Bennett led NorthWood with 13 assists and five kills and Sophia Barber had 17 digs and eight kills. Macy Lengacher chipped in 12 digs and a pair of assists and Claire Payne had three blocks.
In the JV contest, Penn won 25-19, 25-11. Emery Porter had 12 assists and four digs and Aaliyah Bonner and Maddy Birk each tallied four kills in the loss for the Panthers.
Fort Wayne Concordia 3, Warsaw 0
Stats were not provided from the varsity match.
The Warsaw JV won 25-24, 25-15, led by five kills each from Maggie Hollon and Ava Egolf. Daiyah Chupp had 16 assists and two aces and Maya Contreras and Allyson Anderson combined for 17 digs.
The Tiger freshmen won 25-13, 25-9. Warsaw had 14 aces from Leila Knepp, Olivia Martinez and Jillian Glaze while Eva Everest had 22 assists in the win.
