Grace’s Humphrey Earns Academic Honor
TOWSON, Md. – Michael Humphrey of Grace College has been named to the prestigious Capital One Academic All-America Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Humphrey was one of 15 male athletes to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America recognition on the College Division At-Large Team.
Humphrey is a junior accounting and management major with a 3.96 GPA. The Danville, Ind., native helped the Grace tennis team its first conference championship in 23 years with a 7-1 conference mark.
Humphrey finished with a 9-2 record in singles play during the 2012 fall season and was 8-2 in doubles play, winning 10 straight matches to end the year. Additionally, Humphrey was a perfect 6-0 in the Crossroads League Tournament.
The men’s at-large team is comprised of student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions and includes the sports of tennis, wrestling, golf, ice hockey, swimming, diving, water polo, bowling, gymnastics, fencing, lacrosse, rifle and skiing.
Members of CoSIDA vote on student-athletes who have achieved a GPA of at least 3.3 through the district and national levels, resulting in the final 15-member men’s at-large Academic All-America Team.
