Honor The Flag On Flag Day
Dear Editor:
At the Memorial Day Service at Oakwood Cemetery I was honored to speak at that event. I mentioned how a woman called me and was concerned that her church no longer had the American Flag in their sanctuary and had placed it in a closet. She asked my response to this and I answered that I don’t believe the flag necessarily needs to be in the sanctuary, but it should be displayed in a place of honor in the building or flying on a staff outside.
This is not worship of the flag, but honoring the multitude of Americans who have fought and died for our liberty for almost 237 years. It should also serve as a reminder that we can freely worship in this nation without fear because of their sacrifice. I understand that church has the flag back out properly displayed. Thank you.
This Flag Day 2013 (June 14) fly the American Flag proudly, but don’t forget “Freedom Isn’t Free.”
God Bless America,
