Indiana All-Stars Collect Wins
INDIANAPOLIS – It was home sweet home for the Indiana All-Star basketball teams Saturday night.
The boys team made it a clean sweep of the series with Kentucky with an 84-77 win while the girls squad earned a split with a 100-86 victory at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
The Indiana All-Stars, who had posted a 114-60 win in Louisville Friday night, held off Kentucky Saturday night. Indiana has now won 11 straight in the annual two-game series.
Former Triton star Clay Yeo, who is bound for Valparaiso University, scored two points in the victory.
Demetrius Jackson, who starred at Mishawaka Marian and will play at Notre Dame, had four points, six rebounds and four blocked shots for the winners.
Devin Davis netted 19 points, Mr. Basketball Zak Irvin 16 and Bryson Scott 14 for Indiana.
V.J. Beachem from New Haven High School, also a Notre Dame recruit, had nine points and six rebounds.
The Indiana girls team got a big game from Notre Dame bound Taya Reimer in its win. Reimer, from Hamilton Southeastern, had 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Kentucky had defeated the Indiana squad 84-78 Friday night in Louisville.
Taylor Lutz, who starred at Penn High School, turned in a strong floor game for Indiana. Lutz, who started at point guard, had one point, two rebounds and two assists.
Andrijana Cvitkovic, who played at Culver Academies, had two points for Indiana.
Indiana won the contest despite being without Miss Basketball Stephanie Mavunga. The 6-4 center from Brownsburg, who will play at North Carolina, suffered a knee sprain in the first three minutes of Friday night’s game in Louisville.
