Man Arrested After Burglarizing Rochester Business, Caston Schools
Staff Report
ROCHESTER — A Plymouth man was recently arrested in Fulton County after burglarizing a Rochester business and Caston Schools.
Jon Allen Sailors III, 23, 15459 3rd Road, Plymouth, is charged with burglary, a level 5 felony; and theft, a class A misdemeanor.
On Oct. 11, multiple Fulton County police officers were dispatched to Outdoor Power Equipment Station in Rochester for a burglary report. It was unknown at the time if the burglar was still inside the building.
According to court documents, the business’s owner opened the front door of the business and saw footprints. The owner then secured the door and contacted police.
Video footage from the business showed a person inside the building around 11 p.m. A short time later, the person spotted the surveillance camera and moved it, disabling the view of the store area.
Upon searching the building, officers did not find the person or discover any damage. Store employees said no items or cash had been stolen from the business.
A few days prior to this incident, a burglary occurred at Caston Community Schools. Through surveillance footage, it appeared the person who burglarized Outdoor Power Equipment Station also burglarized Caston Schools. Officers also said the person from the Caston Schools incident was driving a silver Chevrolet HHR.
On Oct. 12, Rochester Police officers discovered the suspect vehicle at a motel. Upon running the vehicle’s registration, officers compared the Bureau of Motor Vehicles picture of the registered owner to footage of the suspect. It was determined that Sailors appeared to be the person who committed the burglaries.
Sailors was interviewed by officers and admitted to burglarizing Outdoor Power Equipment Station and Caston Schools. He said he used a screwdriver to gain access into the front door of Outdoor Power Equipment Station.
Sailors has an initial hearing at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, in Fulton Superior Court.
