Two Face Charges After Domestic Dispute
Staff Report
WARSAW — A man and woman are both facing charges after a domestic dispute that allegedly turned physical.
Malcolm Dupree Steward, 24, 520 S. Columbia St., Warsaw, is charged with domestic battery with a child present, a level 6 felony; and interference with the reporting of a crime and domestic battery, both class A misdemeanors.
Olivia Agnes Alka Lour Morrow, 20, 520 S. Columbia St., Warsaw, is charged with domestic battery with a child present and strangulation, both level 6 felonies; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Oct. 26, Kosciusko County Dispatch advised they received a 911 hang-up call in which they could hear a woman crying in the background before the call was disconnected.
Two Warsaw Police officers responded to the residence and a woman, later identified as Morrow, ran out the front door screaming as the officers approached the door.
When asked what happened, Morrow told officers that Steward hit her in the head and knocked her out.
Morrow said the two had been arguing prior to that because Steward had awoken a child who was in the home. She told police that after being battered she tried to call 911, but Steward took her phone away.
Morrow said she attempted to leave with the child, but Steward got on top of her and struck her.
Police observed a small red spot on Morrow’s scalp and another on her stomach, as well as a small scab under Morrow’s right eye and bruises on her right arm and knuckles.
Steward told police that Morrow attacked him, scratching his neck several times and grabbing him by the neck and squeezing, inhibiting his breathing. Police observed abrasions on Steward’s neck.
Steward also told police that Morrow took his XBox and would not let him take it with him. He said he was trying to find a ride to leave and never prevented Morrow from leaving.
Steward did admit to striking Morrow in the ribs with an open hand.
Morrow and Steward were both booked at the Kosciusko County Jail Oct. 26. Each had a $6,000 surety and cash bond.
