WARSAW — Sentencing for a Warsaw man who stabbed his wife repeatedly in the face, head and chest, has been rescheduled to 8:30 a.m. Jan. 17.
Juan M. Ramirez Garcia, 51, 340 E. Levi Lee Road Lot 139, Warsaw, is charged with attempted murder, a level 1 felony.
Ramirez Garcia’s sentencing was initially supposed to take place at 8 a.m. Monday, Dec. 20. However, it was moved to January per Ramirez Garcia’s request.
The State of Indiana filed a motion to amend a no-contact order on Dec. 15. On Feb. 24, 2020, a no-contact order was issued prohibiting Ramirez Garcia from having any contact with his daughter.
According to court paperwork, Ramirez Garcia has fallen seriously ill and is currently being treated at a hospital. His daughter contacted the county prosecutor’s office on Dec. 14 and requested the no-contact order be revoked entirely.
The State objected to revoking the no contact order in its entirety but did consent to an amendment allowing Ramirez Garcia’s daughter to briefly visit him in the hospital.
A no-contact order between Ramirez Garcia and his wife continues to remain in effect.
In Indiana, a Level 1 felony carries a 20 to 40-year prison sentence.
