Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 2:25 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 8015 W. CR 1350N, Nappanee. Driver: Tyler A. Ruse, 28, North Locke Street, Nappanee. Ruse accidentally drove into a ditch because he couldn’t see the drive due to the snow. His vehicle also hit a rock. Damage: Up to $1,000.
- 1:28 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, East CR 100N, east of North CR 300E, Warsaw. Driver: William D. Crane, 37, South Pin Oak Drive, Mishawaka. Crane’s vehicle hit a deer. Damage: Up to $5,000.
- 11:56 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, West CR 1350N, east of North CR 1025W, Nappanee. Drivers: Caleb J. Plank, 20, Cedar Road, Bremen; and Joshua L. Arnett, 34, North Thayer Street, Bourbon. Arnett slowed down to turn into a driveway and Plank’s vehicle hit his. Arnett was taken to the hospital with neck pain. Damage: Up to $10,000.
- 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, West CR 900N, west of North CR 250W, Milford. Driver: Jessica M. Yoder, 34, North CR 100E, Warsaw. Yoder began to lose control of her vehicle. She tried to steer back onto the road, but was unable to and hit a utility pole. Damage: Up to $10,000.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 5:17 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, CR 1300N, west of Kern Road, Syracuse. Driver: Michael T. Hummel, 35, South Syracuse Webster Road, Syracuse. Hummel said the roadway was slick and he lost control of his vehicle. It went off the roadway into a yard. Hummel complained of head and elbow pain and was treated on scene. Damage: Up to $1,000.
- 2:43 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, South Huntington Street, west of East Palm Drive, Syracuse. Drivers: Tamara R. Bair, 42, McLean Street, Ligonier; and Darrick W. Spore, 42, East Excalibur Place, Cromwell. Bair said she hit a patch of ice and her vehicle slid into Spore’s. Damage: Under $750.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 6:47 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, East Old Road 30 and Orchard Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Sawyer A. Bales, 18, West Lincolnway, Larwill; and Therese R. Massura, 24, Cabot Street, Warsaw. Bales said Massura’s vehicle was slowing down to make a left-hand turn onto Orchard Drive. Bales said he attempted to slow down, but his vehicle slid on the roadway. His vehicle hit Massura’s. Damage: Up to $2,500.
- 3:11 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, East Old Road 30 and Orchard Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Andrew L. Tobolski, 52, Slater Drive, South Bend; and Lonnie E. Slone, 63, West CR 600N, Warsaw. Tobolski said an unknown vehicle slowed down and stopped in front of him. He said he tried to stop his vehicle, but due to the road conditions, his vehicle began sliding. He tried to avoid hitting the unknown vehicle, swerving into the oncoming westbound lane. He tried to avoid Slone’s vehicle, which was in the westbound lane, but was unable to. His vehicle hit Slone’s. Damage: Up to $5,000.
- 1:09 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, SR 15 and West CR 350N, Warsaw. Drivers: Courtney E. Thrasher, 33, East Birchwood Court, Warsaw; Brian S. Poe, 50, East CR 350N, Warsaw; and Robert A. Grindle, 43, South Side Drive, Warsaw. Thrasher saw that Poe’s vehicle was slowing in front of her, but that she couldn’t avoid a collision with his vehicle. She swerved to the left, with her vehicle sideswiping Poe’s. Her vehicle then hit Grindle’s. Damage: Up to $5,000.
