Collier’s Dance Student Receives National Award
Jeremy Plummer, an accomplished director, choreographer and aerial creator/choreographer, will be the recipient of the 2013 Artistic Achievement Award from the Chicago National Association of Dance Masters (CNADM) presented at the organizations’ 101st annual awards banquet this month. Each year, CNADM presents the Artistic Achievement Award to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the dance community.
Plummer began his training at Debra Collier’s School of Dance, where he was a member of “Class Act Dance Troupe”. He continued on to Gus Giordano’s School of Dance in Chicago after graduation. He was a company member with River North Chicago Dance Company and is featured in the films “Vanilla City” and “The Visitor and Road to Perdition”.
Plummer is founder and CEO of C5, an aerial-dance company. Through his unique blend of aerial artistry and live performance, Plummer has created aerial shows and ‘living art’ installments for cruise lines and special events. He is a choreographer for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and a master teacher for numerous national dance organizations. He has directed and choreographed over 15 shows and musical reviews and shared his love and knowledge of dance through the Minnesota Ballet theater production of “Teenage Wasteland”.
“Watching Jeremy develop as a student and into the talented choreographer he has become is such a privilege,” explains Debra Collier. Plummer recently taught master classes in jazz and improving turns for students at Debra Collier’s School of Dance and also set choreography on members of the studio’s company, Class Act Dance Troupe. “It is wonderful to have him return to the studio and share his passion for dance, his experience and his talent with our students,” noted Collier.
Debra Collier’s School of Dance provides the area’s most highly trained team of instructors teaching in a state-of-the-art facility. With a passion for developing students as people not just dancers, along with a deep and long-term commitment to the Warsaw community, the staff truly believes it’s about more than dance. The studio regularly hires master teachers, such as Plummer, to complement the extensive education provided to its dance students.
