Man With Three Prior Theft Convictions Arrested For Stealing Trading Cards
Staff Report
WARSAW — A Warsaw man with three prior, local convictions for theft was arrested after stealing a package containing trading cards.
Carey Lynn Noll, 45, 208 N. Fort Wayne Ave., Warsaw, is charged with theft, a class A misdemeanor; and theft with a prior conviction enhancement, a level 6 felony.
On March 12, a Warsaw Police officer responded to a report of a suspicious person. A caller said a person wearing a face mask was testing car doors to see if they were locked. They also said the person was going onto porches. A second caller reporting the suspicious person said they saw the suspect take a package from a porch, open it and steal the contents.
A second Warsaw Police officer found the suspect, later identified as Noll. According to court documents, when the officer said they received a report that Noll had stolen a package, Noll denied doing so. Noll emptied his pockets, which contained a pair of gloves; a box of Batman cards; a box of Harry Potter cards; and three clear, hard plastic cases that appeared to be for trading cards.
Another Warsaw Police officer later discovered a packing slip which listed the items in the discarded package as Batman and Harry Potter trading cards.
Noll told officers he got the cards from a man, but did not know who the man was.
Noll has two prior convictions for theft in Kosciusko County and one prior conviction for receiving stolen property in Whitley County. At the time of this incident, he was under a suspended sentence for a theft case in Kosciusko Superior Court Two; and on pretrial release for a residential entry and methamphetamine possession case in Kosciusko Superior Court One.
For this case, Noll was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on March 12, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
