Area Accident Reports
Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 8:39 a.m. Thursday, March 31, North CR 700W, south of West Aubenaubee Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Rose M. Howell, 62, West Warren Avenue, Silver Lake. Howell was traveling south on CR 900W when her vehicle left the roadway and entered standing water. Damage up to $5,000.
- 6:08 a.m. Thursday, March 31, North CR 200E, south of East CR 1050N, Milford. Driver: Shyla K. Yoder, 33, East CR 700S, Pierceton. Yoder was traveling north on North CR 200E when she hit a tree that was laying in the roadway. No injuries were reported in the accident. Damage up to $10,000.
- 4:08 a.m. Thursday, March 31, South Higbee Street, north of Turkey Creek Drive, Milford. Driver: Rodney A. Miller, 55, North Oakwood Drive, Warsaw. Miller was traveling north on South Higbee Street when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $2,500.
- 3:04 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, West Winona Avenue, near South Zimmer Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Kristian M. Moore, 24, Captains Court, Rochester; and Annette L. Tracy, 48, West CR 450N, Columbia City. Moore was traveling north on Zimmer Road and stopped at the four-way stop at Winona Avenue. He did not see Tracy’s vehicle in the intersection and a collision occurred. Damage up to $2,500.
- 9:36 a.m. Saturday, March 26, East CR 500N, east of Brown Road, Warsaw. Driver: Tanner M. Swihart, 25, East Shore Park Road, Leesburg. Swihart’s vehicle slid off the roadway and hit a street sign. Damage up to $5,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 7:15 a.m. Thursday, March 31, US 30, east of Meijer Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Clayton A. Kerchenfaut, 91, North Fox Farm Road, Warsaw. Kerchenfaut was traveling east in the left lane of US 30 when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $5,000.
- 9:59 a.m. Monday, March 28, East Smith Street, near South Bronson Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Lester McGathy, 66, Nevada 267, Emmet, Ark.; and Michelle Aca-Zempoaltecatl, 22, South Valentine Road, Claypool. McGathy was traveling north and stopped at the intersection of South Bronson Street and East Smith Street. When he pulled into the intersection, he was hit by Aca-Zempoaltecatl’s vehicle. McGathy said he had lost feeling in his right leg. Aca-Zempoaltecatl complained of chest pain from airbag deployment and a hand injury. Both McGathy and Aca-Zempoaltecatl were taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital. Damage up to $50,000.
