Chautauqua-Wawasee will be hosting its second Go Go Green lecture event from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 13, at the Oakwood Chapel, in Oakwood Park, Syracuse. This event will be presented by Aaron Sawatsky Kingsley, the Goshen city forester and the topic will be “A Story of Trees: People, Economics, and Connection.”

Sawatsky Kinglsey comes to the urban forestry profession by way an English degree, working in a bakery and living with his family on 10 re-foresting acres north of Goshen. While he believes that his non-traditional forestry background has advantages, he recently completed an MS in Natural Resource Management from Slippery Rock University.

He has been the urban forester in Goshen for 7 years, cultivating a small municipal nursery, working with school groups on environmental education, creating an accurate tree inventory, maintaining existing public trees, applying for grants and occasionally writing about all of this. From time to time he plays in a rock band with his close friends. He is married with three children, who keep him sane.

There is no cost to attend this event thanks to the support of Chautauqua-Wawasee’s generous donors and sponsors, all “Go Go Green” lectures are free and open to the public. Other sessions in this Saturday morning series include:

• Aug. 3,  don’t miss Wawasee Area Conservancy Foundation’s Lake, Talk & Eats session on Invasive Species. Sponsored by WACF and will be held at the WACF Education Center from 9 a.m.-11 a.m.
