WARSAW – Lutheran Health Network is updating its signage across parts of its medical campus in Warsaw; this includes Kosciusko Community Hospital.
A plan to replace numerous signs was approved in a series of requests made to the Warsaw Board of Zoning Appeals Monday night, April 25.
According to the city plan office, the proposal will include 14 signs and four “directional” signs. Many of the new signs are planned for parts of Provident Drive and Dubois Drive.
Some of the signs will have as big as 80 square feet of display area.
“The hospital is a real asset to the community and yet, its way-finding signage is way behind the times,” said Tom Trent, an attorney from Fort Wayne, who represented the petitioner, Warsaw Health Systems. “The intent tonight is part of a broader initiative to modernize the campus.”
“The proposed signs are such a substantial upgrade that if there is any effect on value, it would be positive,” he said.
Some of the signs will be bigger and taller.
The city plan office staff supported the changes and had unanimous support from the board.
Approval from the BZA was needed because the plans exceeded the development standards used by the city.
In another matter, a petitioner won approval to establish a rental storage warehouse in a C-5 District. The business will be located on Commerce Drive, southeast of the new RP Home and Harvest store.
The petitioner was Three JM LLC.
