Many Attend NWHS Alumni Banquet

North Webster High School Alumni Association had a turnout of 155 people who gathered in their old high school cafeteria, now the banquet hall at the North Webster Community Center, Saturday evening for the 2013 alumni banquet.
All were welcomed by Steve Tracey, alumni president, and the North Webster High School song was sung. Other officers for 2013 are Cheryl Leedy, secretary and Fran Bowser, treasurer. Alumni were encouraged to serve as one of the group’s officers in the coming years to insure the continuence of the banquet in the future.
Classes of 1963, 1953, 1943 and 1933 were honored at the event. While no one was present from the class of 1933, Gladys Strombeck Culver was the oldest alumna in attendance representing the class of 1928. The last class to graduate from North Webster High School was in 1968. Wawasee High School opened that fall as a consolidation of North Webster, Syracuse and Milford high schools.

The class of 1963 had 18 of their 28 members present for an excellent turnout for the 50th reunion. Photos of each of the honored classes from their senior years were included in the program. The cover was a replica of the North Webster High School 1963 yearbook, “The Troy.”
Entertainment during the social hour and dinner was performed by Capt. Bob Barnes of the Dixie Shernwheeler. Dinner was catered by The Katering Kitchen, Warsaw.
The next alumni banquet will be held Saturday, July 12, 2014. Classes honored will be those of 1964, 1954, 1944 and 1934.
