Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 7:26 a.m. Monday, June 27, Chapman Lake Drive, west of North CR 300E, Warsaw. Driver: Daryla K. Monesmith, 65, West CR 550N, Warsaw. Monesmith was traveling east on CR 400N when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $10,000.
- 10:24 a.m. Sunday, June 26, East Blossom Lane, south of East Masters Lane, Warsaw. Driver: Gavyn J. Ness, 18, East Blossom Lane, Warsaw. Ness was traveling north on East Blossom Lane when his vehicle left the roadway, traveling through two yards and hitting a Century Link utility box. No injuries were reported in the accident. Damage up to $10,000.
- 8:09 a.m. Sunday, June 26, 4987 N. SR 13, North Webster. Drivers: Jerry D. Fisher, 63, South Mary Lafern Street, North Webster; and Jeffrey A. Powell, 57, Hemlock Lane, Warsaw. Fisher was moving his vehicle from a gas pump when he hit Powell’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
- 5:18 a.m. Sunday, June 26, South SR 14, south of West SR 14, Akron. Driver: Trevor T. Neeley, 24, South CR 1150W, Mentone. Neeley was traveling north on South SR 14 when his vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason. His vehicle then hit two utility poles, both belonging to Kosciusko REMC. This also caused high voltage wires to fall to the ground. No injuries were reported in the accident. Damage up to $100,000.
- 2:29 a.m. Sunday, June 26, West Old Road 30, west of North Riverwood Ranch Road, Warsaw. Driver: Gary J. Tackett, 50, North Hartzler Street, Warsaw. Tackett was traveling east on West Old Road 30 when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $5,000.
- 12:11 a.m. Sunday, June 26, East Old Road 30, west of North CR 600E, Pierceton. Driver: Paul D. Herrell, 66, South Locke Street, Nappanee. Herrell was traveling west on East Old Road 30 when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $2,500.
- 12:29 p.m. Saturday, June 25, West CR 1350N, west of North CR 950W, Nappanee. Driver: Joas S. Miller, 20, West CR 950N, Nappanee. Miller was traveling west on West CR 1350N on a motorcycle. His motorcycle hit grass on the roadway, causing his rear tire to lock up. Miller laid the motorcycle down on its left side. Damage up to $2,500.
- 6:47 a.m. Saturday, June 25, North CR 500E, south of East CR 1000N, Syracuse. Driver: April I. Hostetler, 67, Regina Road, New Paris. Hostetler was traveling south on North CR 500E the her vehicle left the roadway and hit an REMC utility pole. No injuries were reported in the accident. Damage up to $50,000.
- 3:58 a.m. Saturday, June 25, East Old Road 30, east of Clinic Court, Warsaw. Driver: Siera E. Storm Vining, 22, Heron Boulevard, Warsaw. Storm Vining was traveling west on Old Road 30 when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $10,000.
- 7:25 p.m. Friday, June 24, North CR 300E, north of East CR 750N, Leesburg. Driver: Mark A. Zimmerman, 48, North Schenkel Drive, Milford. Zimmerman was traveling south on North CR 300E when his vehicle, a motorcycle, left the roadway. Zimmerman had abrasions down the left side of his back but refused treatment at the scene. Damage up to $2,500.
- 3:39 p.m. Friday, June 24, West US 30, near North CR 750W, Warsaw. Drivers: Thomas S. Barrett, 70, US Highway 30E, New Haven; and Artur Polishchuk, 33, Windsor Mall 3L, Park Ridge, Ill. Barrett was traveling north on CR 750W and turned west onto US 30 when he realized he was traveling west in the eastbound turn lane. While attempting to correct his vehicle, he rear-ended Polishchuk’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
- 8:09 a.m. Friday, June 24, North SR 15, north of West CR 900N, Milford. Drivers: Shelby M. Harrell, 26, Klinger Street, Plymouth; and Annette J. Baker, 57, East Wooster Road, Pierceton. Harrell was traveling east on West CR 900N when she disregarded a stop sign, entering Baker’s lane of travel. Baker’s vehicle hit Harrell’s vehicle on the passenger side. Harrell was trapped in the vehicle and complained of abdominal/pelvic pain. She was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital. Damage up to $25,000.
- 2:12 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, North CR 350W, north of West Old Road 30, Warsaw. Drivers: Mary E. McBride, 75, West Clifton Street, Warsaw; and Lisa M. Mondragon, 53, Derome Drive, Fort Wayne. McBride was traveling south on CR 350W when she rear-ended Mondragon’s vehicle after it came to a stop. Mondragon said traffic was backed up due to an accident on US 30. No injuries were reported in the accident. Damage up to $10,000.
- 12:34 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, West US 30, east of North CR 500W, Atwood. Drivers: James Douglas, 58, Frankinwood Court, Greensboro, N.C.; Stephen T. Cunningham, 23, Grant 190005, Whitehall, Ark.; and Kathy J. Harmon, 47, Pin Oak Circle A3, Mishawaka. Douglas was traveling west on US 30 when his vehicle started to drift left of the center line, into oncoming eastbound traffic. In an attempt to miss hitting Douglas’ vehicle, Cunningham’s vehicle went into the median. Douglas’ vehicle hit the back of Cunningham’s trailer and continued to travel westbound. Harmon attempted to swerve her vehicle into the median to avoid a collision, but Douglas’ vehicle hit Harmon’s vehicle head-on. Harmon was pronounced dead at the scene by the Kosciusko County Coroner. Drug and alcohol screens were performed on all drivers involved. Damage over $100,000.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 2:16 a.m. Saturday, June 25, North Eastshore Drive, north of East Pickwick Drive, Syracuse. Driver: Michael S. Senter, 29, East King Arthur Trail, Cromwell. Senter was traveling east on East Pickwick Drive when his vehicle went around the curve onto North Eastshore Drive. The left front tire of Senter’s vehicle blew out, causing Senter’s vehicle to hit a guardrail head-on. No injuries were reported in the accident. Damage up to $25,000.
- 3:50 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, West Pickwick Drive, south of South Huntington Street, Syracuse. Drivers: Marta S. Wonder, 72, South Zikes Road, Bloomington; and Janelle M. Bartels, 41, North CR 600E, Syracuse. Wonder was traveling south on South Huntington Street and believed she was in the right turn lane when she hit Bartels’ vehicle. Bartels said Wonder’s vehicle was in the left turn lane. Damage up to $5,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 7:22 p.m. Sunday, June 26, East US 30, near East CR 200N, Warsaw. Drivers: Travaris J. Steele, 38, Kaliste Saloom Road 905, Lafayette, La.; and Pedro Lopez, 48, North CR 475E, Warsaw. Steele was traveling west on East US 30 when he ran a red light and hit Lopez’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
- 3:08 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2695 Shelden St., Warsaw. Driver: Lori A. Wesley, 60, Meadows Lane, Nappanee. Wesley was backing her vehicle from a parking space when she hit a parked, unoccupied vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
- 2:26 p.m. Sunday, June 26, East Market Street, near South Harrison Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Deepak Grover, 40, East Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw; and Krystal J. Smith, 48, West CR 100S, Warsaw. Grover was traveling south on South Harrison Street when he entered the East Market Street intersection, hitting Smith’s vehicle. Grover said he thought east and west traffic on East Market Street had a stop sign. Grover complained of left wrist pain but denied treatment at the scene. Damage up to $25,000.
- 11:16 p.m. Saturday, June 25, North Lake Street, west of West Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Jose A. Luna, 29, East CR 200N 173, Warsaw; and James L. Page, 38, Biblers Avenue, Winona Lake. Luna was traveling east on West Fort Wayne Street when he rear-ended Page’s vehicle. Page was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of North Lake Street when he was rear-ended. No injuries were reported in the accident. Damage up to $25,000.
- 10:14 p.m. Friday, June 24, East Market Street, west of South Lindberg Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Jennifer R. Ganshorn, 38, North Union Street, Warsaw; and Brittany M. Bowers, 25, South Roosevelt Street, Warsaw. Ganshorn was driving west on East Market Street when she drove her vehicle left of center, hitting Bowers’ vehicle. No injuries were reported in the accident. Damage up to $10,000.
- 7:57 p.m. Friday, June 24, 130 Fawley Street, Warsaw. Driver: Elizabeth M. Miner, 18, East Sheridan Street, Warsaw. Miner was backing her vehicle from a parking space when she hit a parked, unoccupied vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
- 4 p.m. Friday, June 24, US 30, near North Parker Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Shannon P. Stults, 58, North CR 800W, Warsaw; and Bailey L. Green, 19, North SR 109, Columbia City. Stults was traveling east on US 30 and was attempting to enter the left turn lane to turn onto North Paker Street when he sideswiped Green’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
- 2:06 p.m. Friday, June 24, 3356 Lake City Highway, Warsaw. Driver: unknown. A gray Acura was hit by a gray minivan. The minivan’s driver left the scene. Damage under $750.
- 9:40 a.m. Friday, June 24, Park Ridge Drive, west of South County Farm Road, Warsaw. Driver: Brittany D. Shepherd, 28, Nuthatch Drive, Warsaw. Shepherd was attempting to park her vehicle when she hit a parked, unoccupied vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
- 12:40 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 1511 W. Lake St., Warsaw. Driver: Gershom J. Tadesse, 29, West Perry Street, Warsaw. Tadesse was traveling east on a gravel drive around a steel storage building. While attempting to turn left around one of the storage buildings, the trailer on Tadesse’s vehicle hit one of the storage buildings. The buildings are owned by Barker Keep-Safe Storage Inc., Warsaw. No injuries were reported in the accident. Damage up to $10,000.
- 9:48 p.m. Monday, June 20, 1800 W. Center St., Warsaw. Driver: Kiyarra M. Ellis, 18, North Harrison Street, Atwood. Ellis was making a wide turn into a parking space when she hit a parked, unoccupied vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
