YMCA FUNraising Carnival
The Kosciusko Community YMCA is planning a special youth and family carnival event on Saturday, August 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The proceeds from the event will go toward the Y’s current Shaping the Future Capital Campaign to build a new YMCA.
Everyone is welcome to FUNraising day where there will be a bounce house, hula hoop contest, climbing wall, healthy snack, a raft race in the pool, egg toss, beach ball volleyball, a craft, face painting and a water balloon toss.
The event will be kicking off a Youth Coin Drive Competition between different youth departments that are part of the Y. Gymnastics vs. Swim Lessons, Gymnastics Team vs. Youth Sports and Babysitting and the Youth Center vs. Kids’ Club. The winning teams will get the opportunity to choose something for the new Y facility. Jugs to collect the coins will be in the Y lobby.
Initial plans for the new Y on U.S. 30 and Mariner Drive include a youth and teen center, outdoor space for day camp, a health and wellness center, lap pool, instructional warm water pool, multi-purpose gathering spaces, and a double gymnasium. While the Y hopes to open the new Y in late 2014, the size, scope and timing of the new Y facility will ultimately be determined by the generosity of the community in support of this effort.
The Y is the leading nonprofit committed to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. All the efforts and offerings of the Kosciusko Community YMCA are guided by the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Every day, the Y works side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure everyone regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. So far in 2013, the Kosciusko Community YMCA has provided $56,350 in financial assistance to make sure that happens.
