Warsaw Man Arrested For Battering Woman
Staff Report
WARSAW — A Warsaw man was arrested after a domestic incident.
Akinwunmi A. Kolawole, 56, 163 N. 175E Apartment B., Warsaw, is charged with domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On May 25, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a physical altercation at a residence in Warsaw. Upon arrival at the scene, the deputy spoke with a woman who was involved in the incident.
The woman had a cut on her left elbow that was bleeding. When asked if she had any other injuries, the woman showed a deputy a golf ball-sized bump on her head and minor scrapes on the palm of her right hand.
According to court documents, the woman said she and Kolawole went to pick up a dishwasher in Silver Lake. When they returned to the Warsaw residence, they began arguing inside a truck. Kolawole took the truck’s keys out of the ignition and said he would leave.
The woman told Kolawole that she wouldn’t allow him to take the vehicle since she had purchased its registration plates. Kolawole went inside the residence while she retrieved tools with the intention of removing the license plate from the vehicle.
When Kolawole saw what she was doing, he went back outside to confront her and another argument began. While the woman was attempting to remove the vehicle’s plate, Kolawole allegedly shoved her, knocking her to the ground. The woman told the deputy she landed on her left elbow and hit her head.
The deputy then spoke with one of the woman’s relatives about the incident. The relative said she heard Kolawole and the woman arguing and went outside to mediate the situation. She saw Kolawole push the woman, causing her to fall to the ground.
Kolawole has an initial hearing at 1 p.m. Friday, July 22, in Kosciusko Superior Court Two.
