“If you like country, bluegrass, western music – you’re going to like it,” says Laurie Schotz. “If you like Patsy Cline, you’re coming.”

Schotz is talking about the upcoming production of A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline, put on by her company Best Schotz Productions. The show, held in conjunction with the Heirloom Tomato Festival, will run at the Old Train Depot in Pierceton from Wednesday through Saturday Aug. 14-17.

Follow the story of a country music legend. Cline’s life is told by 1960s DJ, Little Big Man, played by Olin Davidson. Cheyenne Nelson will portray Cline, treating audiences to more than 20 of her classic songs.

“I use locals in Patsy Cline,” says Schotz. The five-piece band backing Nelson are from the area. Bassist Jeremy Springer is a Pierceton resident.

The story of A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline actually begins in Vancouver, B.C. Created by Dean Regan in 1991. The show has been produced all over the U.S. and Canada. The musical tribute is one of only two plays licensed by the Patsy Cline Estate.

Schotz brought the show to Pierceton last year. “I picked Patsy Cline because of the demographic,” she says. The show was so popular that Schotz brought it back this year, and added a production at Bearcreek Farms Resort in Berne, Ind.

The Pierceton shows run from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. each night. Dinner and a show cost $35, $27 for the show only. For reservations call 260-479-9615.
