The city of Warsaw continues to work on a new comprehensive study to determine future growth and development. The public’s input is important to the study and continues to be sought online.

In May, Ground Rules Inc. of Zionsville was contracted for $50,750 to complete the city’s comprehensive plan. Brad Johnson of the company will work for about the next 8 months to gather input from interest groups and public surveys and host workshops and public meetings to develop a plan for Warsaw’s future.

Among the areas which officials feel need to be a serious focus of the comprehensive plan are future land use, preserving the environment and aesthetics, maintaining current industry and expanding industrial businesses, fiscal responsibility, housing, the airport, encouraging entrepreneurship, economic development and redevelopment, and the importance of inter-jurisdictional cooperation.

The public is encouraged to voice their opinions by taking an online survey and providing specific input. The survey can be found at surveymonkey.com.

The purpose of the online survey is to help the city identify strengths, weaknesses, needs and community values relating to the future of the community.

Topics include future growth and redevelopment, transportation, economic development, natural environment, parks and recreation, public services, housing, community image, and other aspects that relate to quality of life in the community.
