Goshen First Friday To Feature VolksFest, EV Display
News Release
GOSHEN — Downtown Goshen will host VolksFest from 5-9 p.m. Friday, Sep. 2, as part of September First Fridays.
Because their July event was rained out, Downtown Goshen is combining their usual September VW showcase with the Classic Car Show from July. There will also be Porsches and an array of electric vehicles on display.
VolksFest packs an evening full of the things Goshen loves most: local’ “volks,” food and beer, downtown shopping, live music, family activities and a showcase of area-owned Volkswagen Beetles and Buses.
Check out Porsches, VW and electric vehicles on South Main Street, and a Classic Car Show on North Main Street.
The City of Goshen Department of Environmental Resilience is teaming up with Michiana Area Council of Governments, a sustainable transportation non-profit organization, and local electric vehicle drivers to present an electric vehicles display in celebration of National Drive Electric Week. Vistors will have a chance to get behind the wheel, experience EVs firsthand and hear from local owners about about a diversity of options from affordable, used EVs to brand new models and the benefits of the vehicles.
At least 10 different all-electric and plug-in hybrid models are registered to attend, including the Rivian R1T, Kia EV6, Polestar 2, Chevy Bolt EUV, Toyota Prius Prime and even family-sized vehicles such as the Chrysler Pacifica plug-in hybrid minivan.
The city’s new all-electric Ford F-150 Lightning will be on display.
The event will feature brews from Goshen Brewing Company and Ledgeview Brewing Company.
Free Live Music from the First Fridays Stage will feature McLane & Co. at 5:30 p.m. and Lalo Cura at 7 p.m.
