Goshen Teenager Faces Battery Charges
Staff Report
WARSAW — A Goshen teenager was recently arrested after allegedly pushing a child.
Daemon Andrew Pinheiro, 18, 57 Roxbury Park, Goshen, is charged with domestic battery on a person less than 14 years of age and domestic battery committed in the presence of a child, both level 6 felonies; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On Sept. 7, a Warsaw Police officer responded to a domestic complaint. The woman reporting the complaint said that a man was destroying property at a residence.
Upon arrival at the scene, the officer saw Pinheiro standing in front of the residence. When asked what was going on, Pinheiro said he became upset and punched a wall and television in the home.
According to court documents, the woman said Pinheiro had punched a hole in a wall and then punched and broke a television. The woman said she did not want to pursue charges for property damage but told the officer that Pinheiro had battered a child at the residence.
The child told the officer that Pinheiro pushed them to the ground and took and broke a phone.
Pinheiro admitted to pushing the child to the ground and holding them down to take their phone away.
