Word has been received today that the Oakwood property in Syracuse has been sold.

Lauren Zeugner of The Mail-Journal reports that the property has been sold to Dr. Rex Parent, a Fort Wayne opthamologist who owns a home on the east end of Lake Wawasee. Parents two sons, JR and Jason, are said to have experience in construction and operating retirement homes. They plan to reopen the hotel and restaurant by next summer.

Ian Rolland, the receiver for Oakwood, has also reached an agreement with the Wawasee Area Conservancy Foundation regarding piers. The agreement is said to nullify an appeal before the Department of Natural Resources. A new pier permit will be sought.
